Use one of the following installation procedures for the installation of the jacket water heater group for your machine.301.6C and 301.8C Mini Hydraulic Excavator Jacket Water Heater Group Installation

(A) Port (Location for the former jacket water heater element assembly) (B) Port (Location for the new jacket water heater element assembly)
Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7940 for the correct procedure.
Remove the former jacket water heater element assembly that has failed from port (A) .
Install one 195-8280 Cap in port (A) .
Remove the existing plug from port (B). Refer to Illustration 1.

Clean the area around port (B) and outer diameter (D) of 317-9131 Jacket Water Heater Element Assembly (1). Inspect these areas for burrs, scratches or nicks, etc.
Apply a thin film of 4C-9507 Retaining Compound on the mating surfaces of port (B) and outer diameter (D) of jacket water heater element assembly (1) .
Vertically orient jacket water heater element assembly (1) with arrow (C) in the UP position. Refer to Illustration 2.
