Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Steering frame lock installed
Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock" for the machine being serviced. Test Procedure

(1) Steering lockout valve for a right turn
(2) Steering lockout valve for a left turn
(3) Manifold
(4) Bolts Note: Put identification marks on the hose assemblies for installation purposes.
Disconnect the hose assemblies from manifold (3).
Remove two bolts (4) and the washers. Remove manifold (3).
Connect manifold (3) to a hydraulic test bench.

(1) Steering lockout valve for a right turn

Connect a low-pressure oil supply to port (9).
Connect a low-pressure oil supply to port (10).
Connect port (6) to the return port of the hydraulic test bench.
Connect a regulated supply of oil to port (5).
Adjust the regulated supply of oil pressure to port (5) until low-pressure oil flows from port (7) and port (8). Refer to Table 1 for the pressure required to open steering lockout valve (1) and steering lockout valve (2)
If steering lockout valve (1) or steering lockout valve (2) does not meet the required specifications, the valve must be replaced with a new valve.
Install manifold (3) to the machine. Install two bolts (4) and the washers.
Connect the hose assemblies to manifold (3).
