This fault is recorded when the ECM reads the voltage circuit for the shift lever and the ECM determines the voltage is below normal. There is a short to ground.Note: Before troubleshooting the diagnostic code, move the shift lever through all positions. Ensure that the diagnostic code that is being analyzed is still active.This diagnostic code relates to the shift lever and to the components of the harness that are related to the shift lever.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FROM THE SHIFT LEVER TO GROUND
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector for the shift lever.
Measure the resistance from ground to contact 2 (wire 202-BK(Black)) of the machine harness connector for the shift lever. Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms from ground to contact 2.Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The ground circuit of the shift lever is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. The ground circuit of the shift lever in the harness has failed.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE POWER CIRCUITS OF THE SHIFT LEVER
The machine harness connector remains disconnected from the shift lever.
Turn the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage between contact 2 (wire 202-BK(Black)) and contact 15 (wire 126-PK(Pink)) of the machine harness connector for the shift lever. Expected Result:The voltage is approximately 24 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage is approximately 24 VDC. The power circuits of the shift lever are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage is not approximately 24 VDC. The power circuit in the harness is not correct.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SHIFT LEVER
Perform the Testing and Adjusting , "Transmission Control (Shift Lever)- Test" procedure.
Check the shift lever switches in each of the direction positions and each of the gear positions. Expected Result:The shift lever is correct.Results:
OK - The shift lever is correct. The harness has failed or the harness connector has failed. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The shift lever is not correct. A problem exists in the shift lever.Repair: Replace the shift lever.STOPTest Step 4. CHECK THE HARNESS FROM THE SHIFT LEVER TO THE CONTROL
Use the Electrical System Schematic of the machine to check for shorts in the circuits of the harness.
Use the Electrical System Schematic of the machine to measure the resistance in the harness circuits. Expected Result:The measurements in the harness are correct.Results:
OK - The measurements in the harness are correct. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NOT OK - The measurements in the harness are not correct. A problem exists in the harness.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 5. VERIFY THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS PRESENT.
Verify that the key start switch is in the OFF position.
Inspect the connectors and inspect the contacts.
Connect the machine harness to the ECM.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter the service mode.
Operate the machine.
