Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Lubricate seal (14) with Tooling (C). Install seal (14) in the differential housing.Note: It may be necessary to stretch seal (15) to ensure remains in place during the assembly process.
Lubricate seal (15) with Tooling (C). Install seal (15) in the differential housing.

Apply clean hydraulic oil to piston (13). Align the piston with the dowels. Lower the piston into the piston seals.
Tooling (F) must be modified in order to be used with Tooling (D). Extend the thread of Tooling (F) in order to use Tooling (F) with Tooling (D) .
Install Tooling (D) on the differential housing assembly using Tooling (E) .Note: Install piston (13) evenly. Twisting or binding of the piston may cause seal damage.
Use Tooling (F) and Tooling (G) in order to fully install piston (13) .

Install lower reaction plate (12) in position over the dowels.
Install three springs (11) in position over the dowels.

Note: Using a friction disc with less than 8.05 mm (.317 inch) of friction material will result in accelerated wear. Do not use the color of the friction disc as an indication of wear. The overall thickness and disc groove depth are better indications of wear.
Inspect friction discs (5) for wear. Replace the friction discs if the thickness of the friction material is less than 8.05 mm (.317 inch). Immerse the friction disc in clean SAE 30 oil prior to assembly.

Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (9). Install spacer (10) on adapter (4) .

Assembly two friction discs (5), reaction plate (8) and spacer (6) on adapter (4) .
Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (7) .

Install friction disc adapter (4) and the friction discs as an assembly.
Install three springs (3) over the dowels.

Install reaction plate (1) over the three dowels and onto the three springs.Note: Ensure the wide section of the reaction plate is aligned correctly with the housing as shown.
Install four studs (2) in the original locations marked during the disassembly process.

Use one of the drive axle shafts or a cut off section of an axle shaft (16) in order to align the splines of the friction disc adapter with the differential. Ensure the splines are aligned before installing the parking brake group.End By: Install the parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Install".
