Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the bottom guard under the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install" in the Service Manual for your machine.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the "OFF" position.
Open the engine enclosure on the right side.
Remove the engine side guard on the right side.

Note: Mark all the components for the correct installation.
Remove four bolts and clips (2) that secure four hoses (1) to the frame. Move the hoses out of the way.

Remove two bolts (3), the washers, and clips (4) from four hoses (1) .

Remove nine electrical connectors (6) from electric starting motor (5) .

Note: The electric starting motor weighs 26 kg (57 lb).
Attach a nylon strap and a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (5). Remove three bolts (7). Remove the electric starting motor and the gasket from the engine.Installation Procedure
Check the condition of the gasket that was between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing. If necessary, replace the gasket.

Note: The electric starting motor weighs 26 kg (57 lb).
Use a nylon strap and a suitable lifting device to install electric starting motor (5) and the gasket. Install three bolts (7). Remove the strap and the lifting device.
Make sure that the battery disconnect switch is in the OFF position.

Install nine electrical connectors (6) to electric starting motor (5) .

Install clips (4), the washers, and two bolts (3) to four hoses (1) .

Install clips (2) and the four bolts that hold hoses (1) to the frame.
Install the engine side guard on the right side.
Close the engine enclosure on the right side.
