Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a level surface with the truck body in the DOWN position and stop the engine.

Remove drain plug (2) for the torque converter sump and drain the oil into a suitable container.
Remove screen cover (1) and the screen assembly.
Remove the screen and the baffle retaining nut.
Remove the baffle and the screen from the screen cover.
Wash the screen, the baffle and the screen cover in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Do not crush the screen.
Inspect the cover gasket for damage. If the cover gasket is damaged, use a new gasket.
Install the screen and the baffle on the screen cover . Install the screen cover and the screen assembly.
Start the engine and run the engine for approximately 15 seconds. The oil level will decrease as oil fills the system.
Stop the engine.

Add oil to the hoist, torque converter, and brake tank in order to raise the oil level to the FULL mark in upper sight gauge (3).
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Inspect the area for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level. Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark in the upper sight gauge. If necessary, add oil.
