Remove the water temperature regulator.
Remove the electronic control module.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the oil from the engine oil filter housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Use two people to remove plate (2). The weight of plate (2) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Remove bolts (1), bolts (3), and plate (2).

Remove bolts (4) and bolts (5).

Remove bolts (7) from adapter (6).

Attach Tooling (A ) and a suitable lifting device to remove engine oil filter housing (8). The weight of engine oil filter housing (8) is approximately 135 kg (298 lb).

Remove bolts (9) and engine oil filter housing (8). Installation Procedure
Install engine oil filter housing (8) in the reverse order of removal.
