Information:
Which Generate This Code:CID 0794 FMI 07 diagnostic code can only be recorded if the optional secondary steering system is installed. CID 0794 FMI 07 diagnostic code is recorded if there is not any secondary steering pressure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODENote: The CID 0794 FMI 07 service code cannot be deactivated until the secondary steering system is activated and the secondary steering pressure switch indicates that there is pressure in the system.
Start the engine.
Press and hold the secondary steering test switch for five to ten seconds.
Check the status of the CID 0794 FMI 07 diagnostic code.Expected Result:The diagnostic code indicator remains active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code indicator remains active and the diagnostic code remains active. The harness has failed or the ECM has failed. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - The diagnostic code indicator is inactive.Repair: Repeat this test in order to verify the result. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK FOR OTHER RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC CODESNote: Other recorded diagnostic codes may indicate the reason for the improper operation of the secondary steering system.
Check for other recorded diagnostic codes.Expected Result:There are NOT any other recorded diagnostic service codes. Results:
OK - There are NOT any other recorded diagnostic codes. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - There are other recorded diagnostic codes.Repair: Exit the CID 0794 FMI 07 procedure. Correct the other recorded diagnostic codes. Return to the CID 0794 FMI 07 procedure after the other recorded diagnostic codes are corrected. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGENote: The secondary steering motor requires a large amount of current. A weak battery may have an effect on the operation of the motor.
Check the battery voltage.Expected Result:The battery voltage is correct. Results:
OK - The battery voltage is correct. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The battery voltage is NOT correct.Repair: Correct the cause of the low battery voltage and verify that the battery voltage is correct. If the conditions are not resolved, continue. Stop.Test Step 4. CHECK THE SECONDARY STEERING TEST SWITCHNote: If the switch is failed to ground, then the power train ECM believes that the operator is manually turning on the secondary steering system. If the pressure switch for the secondary steering system is not indicating pressure, then the CID 0794 FMI 07 diagnostic code will be active.
Check the secondary steering test switch.Expected Result:The secondary steering test switch is correct. Results:
OK - The secondary steering test switch is correct. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NOT OK - The secondary steering test switch is NOT correct.Repair: Repair the harness or the cause of the failed circuit. Stop.Test Step 5. CHECK THE SECONDARY STEERING PRESSURE
Check the secondary steering pressure.Expected Result:The secondary steering pressure is correct. Results:
OK - The secondary steering pressure is correct.Repair: Exit this procedure. Use the procedure for CID 0794 FMI 03 and CID 0794 FMI 04 in order to verify that the secondary steering pressure switch is operational. Stop.
NOT OK - The secondary steering pressure is NOT correct.Repair: Repair the cause of the incorrect secondary steering pressure. Stop.
