Connections of the J1939 CAN Data Link for the Inclination SensorThe CID 1952 (Chassis Angle Sensor) diagnostic code is associated with the Inclination Sensor that is used for tool automation features. This sensor replaces the CID 2110 (Machine Pitch Sensor) component when certain features are installed. The Inclination Sensor has more capability and is often called the 6DF sensor since the sensor has 6 degrees of freedom listed below:
pitch
roll
yaw
pitch rate
roll rate
yaw rateThe 1952- 2 diagnostic code occurs when the Implement ECM detects an "erratic, intermittent, or incorrect" signal from the inclination sensor. Communication of the inclination sensor signal is over the J1939 (CAN A) data link. The possible causes of the CID 1952 FMI 02 diagnostic code are listed below:
An open or a poor connection exists in the circuit for the CAN Data Link in the Implement ECM
The terminating resistors are open or the resistors are disconnected.
Sensor mounting is poor and/or sensor vibration/shock limits have been exceeded.
The sensor has failed. Note: Check for a secure mounting of the inclination sensor before proceeding to test steps. If the mount for the inclination sensor is secure and the 1952- 2diagnostic code is active, continue troubleshooting the diagnostic code. Ensure that the 1952- 2 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Test Step 1. Cycle The Power To The System
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. Wait for 15 seconds.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Check the status of the 1952- 2 diagnostic code. Expected Result:The 1952- 2 diagnostic code is not active. Results:
YES - The 1952- 2 diagnostic code is not active. Repair: Cycling the power has reset the ECM. Return the machine to normal operation. STOP
NO - The 1952- 2 diagnostic code is active. Proceed to Test Step 2. Test Step 2. Check For Power At The Sensor
The disconnect switch and the key start switch remain in the ON position. Do not start the engine.
At the machine harness side of the inclination sensor, insert a multimeter probe along contact "1" wire (J764-BR) and along contact "6" wire (709-OR). Do not disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
Measure the voltage. Expected Result:The voltage measurement is 10 0.5 VDC. Results:
YES - The voltage measurement is between 9 and 11 VDC. The power circuits for the sensor are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - The voltage measurement is not 10 0.5 VDC. The power supply for the sensor is not correct. There is an open circuit or a bad connection in the machine harness. Repair: Refer to Electrical System Schematic, KENR8935. Examine all of the connectors that are in the circuit. Ensure that the connections are clean and secure. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 3. Check The Resistance Of The Circuit For The Can Data Link
Turn the key start switch
