G3616 (4CG) EnginesA new breather vent is being used on Altronic III magnetos. The former breather vent could allow water to be forced into the magneto case during transportation to job site or during power washing of the unit. The new breather vent has been designed to help prevent water entry into the magneto housing.
The new breather vent is in effect with Altronic III magneto serial number 58370 - Up. The new breather vent can be used to replace the former breather vent on earlier magnetos. The new breather vent has Altronic part number 510 550A and must be purchased through an Altronic distributor.
Procedure To Replace The Breather Vent
Use this procedure to replace a former breather vent with a new breather vent.
1. Remove the back cover from the Altronic III magneto.2. Place a support (B) on the inside of the magneto case (2) as shown in Illustration 1.

Use a punch (A), see Illustration 2 for the dimensions of the punch (A), to carefully drive the former breather vent (1) out of the case. Use care not to damage the hole as the former breather vent is removed.

Press the new breather vent (3) into the magneto case until the rim on the new breather vent contacts the magneto case. See Illustration 3. Be careful not to tilt the new breather vent while it is being pressed into the case.
