ACTION REQUIRED
Software should be updated at the earliest opportunity to prevent further over reporting. After failure indicators are not evident so it is recommended software be updated during first service event such as PM Service, inspection or normal field or shop service event.
1. Download the 384-6463 Software from SIS Web.
2. Flash the 239-9954 or 285-1133 PL300 with the 384-6463 Software. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS2365 or Testing and Adjusting, RENR7911 for appropriate procedures on flashing the software.
3. After flashing the new software, adjust the internal ProductLink clock to agree with the machine Service Meter Hours as indicated on the hour meter.
4. Flashing the PL300 will automatically cause a registration message and an administration message to be queued.
Please refer to the Warranty Bulletin in your subsidiary for instruction on how to file a claim against Machine Control and Guidance Products.

The firmware on the Product Link PL300 ECM needs to be installed on the products listed below. The existing firmware on the Product Link PL300 ECM causes over reporting of electronic system Information. This issue results in stress on systems such as satellite network and web infrastructure that processes inbound messages from Product Link and may affect system response time reporting from EquipmentManager and Vision Link. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 05Oct2011 when scheduling this service.
