Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the O-ring seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Inspect pressure relief valve (13). If the pressure relief valve is faulty, replace the pressure relief valve. Install pressure relief valve (13) into the body of engine oil pump (11) and install bolt (12) .
Install bearings (15) and idler gear shaft (14) in the body of engine oil pump (11) with Tool (A) and a hydraulic press, as follows:

Put bearings (15) in position on the inside of the oil pump body. Make sure that the chamfer on the bearing faces toward the outside of the pump body. Install the bearings until the bearings are 1.52 mm (0.060 inch) below the inside machined surface of the oil pump body. The bearing joints on the bearings should be oriented in the pump body at a specific angle. This is shown in illustration 2.
Install idler gear shaft (14) in the body of the engine oil pump. The idler gear shaft protrudes from the machined face of the body 30.50 0.25 mm (1.2 0.010 inch) when the shaft is fully installed.

Lightly oil all of the pump parts with engine oil prior to assembly.
Install two shaft assemblies (9) and (10) in the body of engine oil pump (11).

Install bearings (8) in cover assembly (6) with Tool (A) and a hydraulic press, as follows:
Put bearings (8) in position on the inside of cover assembly (6). Make sure that the chamfer on the bearings faces toward the outside of the cover assembly.

The bearing joints should be oriented at a specific angle. This is shown in illustration 5. Press the bearings into the cover. Press until the bearings are even with the outside of cover assembly (6) .
Inspect O-ring seal (7) in cover assembly (6). If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
Before final assembly, check the condition and specifications for all of the parts of the engine oil pump. Refer to Specifications, "Engine Oil Pump" for additional information.

Use three bolts and washers (5) to fasten cover assembly (6) to the body of engine oil pump (11) .

Use Tool (B) and a hydraulic press to install the drive gear onto the shaft.

Install bolt (4) in order to fasten the drive gear to the shaft.

Use Tool (A) to install bearing (3) into idler gear (2). Press the bearing in idler gear (2) until the bearing is flush with the outside surface of idler gear (2) .

Install idler gear (2) onto the shaft of the engine oil pump.
Position suction bell (1) on the engine oil pump. Install the two bolts that fasten suction bell (1) to the engine oil pump.
The engine oil pump must turn freely by hand after it is assembled.
