SHAFT-STEERING CLUTCH 2172987 - Caterpillar

1. Remove bolt (2) that holds clip (4) to bracket (5). Remove clip (4) from cable (6).2. Remove retaining washer (1) and cable (6) from lever assembly (3). 3. Loosen two allen screws (9), and remove knob (8).4. Remove two screws (10) that hold cover (7) in place. 5. Remove nut (12) that holds cable control (11) to the cover. Remove cable control (11) from cover (7).6. Remove cable (6) and cable control (11) as a unit from the case assembly.Install Heater Control Cable
1. Put cable (3) and cable control (2) as a unit in position in the case assembly.2. Put cable control (2) in position in cover (1), and install the nut that holds it in place. 3. Put cover (1) in position on the case assembly, and install two screws (5) that hold it in place.4. Put knob (4) in position, and tighten two allen screws (6) that hold it on the shaft of the cable control. 5. Put cable (9) in position on lever assembly (6), and install retaining washer (4) that holds it in place.6. Put clip (7) in position on cable (9), and install bolt (5) that holds the clip to bracket (8). Do not tighten bolt (5) at this time.7. Adjust (locate) cable (9) in clip (7) so that lever assembly (6) moves from full "OPEN" to full "CLOSED" when knob (4) is rotated. When cable (9) is correctly adjusted (located) in clip (7), tighten bolt (5) that holds the clip.END BY:a. install recirculating filter and cover assembly
