Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the system. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt.
Lower all attachments to the ground.
Stop the engine. Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions so that the pressure in the hydraulic system is released.
Relieve the pressure in the hydraulic tank.
Remove the relief valve that needs to be tested.
Install the relief valve into the 1U-5216 Manifold.
Connect the manifold to the hydraulic test bench.
Slowly increase pressure. Note the pressure when the relief valve opens. Make an adjustment to the relief valve, if necessary. Relief Valve Adjustments

(6) Adjustment Screw
Remove protective cap (4).
Loosen locknut (5).
Turn adjustment screw (6) clockwise for an increase in the pressure setting. Turn adjustment screw (6) counterclockwise for a decrease in the pressure setting.
After screw (6) is turned for an adjustment, tighten locknut (5) and test the adjustment.
Install cap (4) after the setting is correct.
