The crankcase drain valve for the tier I engine is located on the following serial numbers: (S/N: BPR1-UPBRX1-UP)

The crankcase drain valve for the tier II engine is located on the following serial numbers: (S/N: GNG1-UPHKT1-UP)
Open the crankcase drain valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.Note: Discard any drained fluids according to local regulations.
Close the drain valve.
Open the engine hood.

Open drain valve (1). The drain valve is located on the bottom of engine oil filter (2). Allow the remaining oil in the filter to drain into a suitable container.
Close drain valve (1). Tighten the locknut to 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft).
Remove engine oil filter (2) with a strap type wrench. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Oil Filter - Inspect". Discard the used oil filter properly.
Clean the filter mounting base with a clean towel. Make sure that all of the old filter seal has been removed.
Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the seal of the new engine oil filter.
Install the new engine oil filter hand tight until the seal of the engine oil filter contacts the filter mounting base. Note the position of the index marks on the filter in relation to a fixed point on the filter mounting base.Note: There are rotation index marks on the engine oil filter that are spaced 90 degrees or 1/4 of a turn away from each other. When you tighten the engine oil filter, use the rotation index marks as a guide.
Tighten the oil filter according to the instructions that are printed on the filter. Use the index marks as a guide for tightening the oil filter.Note: You may need to use a Caterpillar strap wrench, or another suitable tool, in order to turn the filter to the amount that is required for final installation. Make sure that the installation tool does not damage the filter.

The tier II engine pertains to the following serial numbers: (S/N: GNG1-UPHKT1-UP) (3) Dipstick (4) Oil filler plug
Remove oil filler plug (4). Fill the crankcase with new oil. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities". Clean the oil filler plug and install the oil filler plug.
Do not under fill or overfill engine crankcase with oil. Either condition can cause engine damage.
Start the engine and allow the oil to warm. Check the engine for leaks. Stop the engine.

Wait for 30 minutes in order to allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase. Check the oil level with dipstick (3). Maintain the oil between the "H" and "L" marks on the dipstick. If necessary, add oil.
Close the engine hood.
