Due to the Caterpillar continuous product improvement program, a new procedure has been introduced for removal and installation of electronic unit injectors.If an injector is replaced, the rockershaft should not be removed. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electronic Unit Injector - Remove" and Disassembly and Assembly, "Electronic Unit Injector - Install" for the correct procedures.The 298-5564 Injector socket must be used to remove the injector clamp setscrew. The 298-5564 Injector socket must be used to tighten the injector clamp setscrew. Ensure that there is no damage to the injector or the inlet rocker arm.Note: On completion of the fuel injector installation, ensure that the end of ball of the pushrod is correctly located in the cup of the tappet. Ensure that the ball end of the adjuster for the rocker is correctly located in the cup of the pushrod. Ensure that the valve bridge is located correctly over both the tips of the valve.Set the engine valve lash. Rotate the engine twice. Check that all components are operating correctly. If necessary, recheck the engine valve lash.
