Support the weight of pin (4) (not shown). Remove two bolts (14) and lock (13) (not shown) that hold center arm (9) to pin (4). Remove pin (4) from center arm (9). Remove center arm (9) and shims (12) from the frame assembly.

Use Tooling (E) to remove bearing (15) (not shown) from the frame assembly.

Verify that all the components are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation. Inspect all the components for wear. Replace the components, if necessary.

Use Tooling (E) to install bearing (16) (not shown) to the frame assembly.
Use Tooling (E) to install bearing (15) to the frame assembly.

Install Tool (C) onto Tool (D) (not shown). Position Tool (C) under center arm (9), as shown. Align the bore of center arm (9) to the bore of frame assembly, as shown.
Illustration 15 g00734360Note: Align the slot of pin (4) with lock (13) prior to installation. It will be difficult to align after pin (4) is installed into center arm (9).
Insert pin (4) through the lower bore of the frame assembly and the bore of center arm (9).
Measure the distance from the top center arm (9) to the bottom of the frame assembly. Assemble shims (12) to obtain a gap of 0.7 0.6 mm (0.03 0.02 inch). Install shims (12) so that pin (4) can be inserted into the top bore of the frame assembly.
Position pin (4) so that lock (13) can be installed. Install lock (13) (not shown) to pin (4). Install two bolts (15) to center arm (9).

Apply 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound to the taper of both of the ball studs (not shown) prior to installation.
Install Tool (C) onto Tool (D) (not shown). Position Tool (C) under steering link (11), as shown. Install steering link (11) to the center arm (not shown). The weight of steering link (11) is 120 kg (265 lb).

Apply 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound to the face of locknut (10) prior to installation. Install locknut (10) that holds ball stud (8) to center arm (9).
Use Tool (F) to tighten locknut (10) that holds ball stud (8) to center arm (9). Tighten locknut (7) to a torque of 2550 100 N m (1881 74 lb ft).

After locknut (10) has been tightened, install plug (7) to steering link (11). Use a screwdriver to install retaining ring (6) that holds plug (7) to steering link (11).
Repeat Steps 8 through 12 for the remaining steering link on the other side.

Connect two hose assemblies (3) and (5) to pin (4).

Connect hose assembly (1) to plug (2). Repeat this procedure for the remaining hose assembly on the other side.
Check the alignment of the front wheels. Refer to Steering System, Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel - Align" for the correct alignment procedure.End By:
