SHAFT-OUTPUT 2780215 - Caterpillar

Support front drive shaft (4) with a suitable lifting device in order to prevent uncontrolled shifting of drive shaft (4) and damage to the drive splines.
Disconnect grease tube (1) from bearing cage (3) .
Remove bolts (2) and the washers that hold bearing cage (3) and the bearing retainer to the loader frame.

Remove bearing retainer (5) and bearing cage (3) from the loader frame. The combined weight of bearing retainer (5) and bearing cage (3) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

Remove bolts (6) and the washers.
Remove bearing retainer (5) from bearing cage (3) .

Remove lip seal (7) from bearing retainer (5) .

Remove O-ring seal (8) from bearing cage (3) .

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove roller bearing (10) from bearing cage (3) .
Remove lip seal (9) from bearing cage (3) .Installation Procedure

Use Tooling (A) to install lip seal (9) in bearing cage (3) . Be sure that lip seal (9) makes contact with the counterbore in bearing cage (3) .

Use Tooling (A) to install roller bearing (10) in bearing cage (3) . Be sure that roller bearing (10) makes contact with the counterbore in bearing cage (3) .
Install O-ring seal (8) in bearing cage (3) .

Use Tooling (A) to install lip seal (7) in bearing retainer (5) . Be sure that lip seal (7) makes contact with the counterbore in bearing retainer (5) .
Apply Tooling (B) to lip seals (7) and (9) and roller bearing (10) .

Install bearing retainer (5) on bearing cage (3) .
Install bolts (6) and the washers that secure bearing retainer (5) to bearing cage (3) .

Install bearing cage (3) and bearing retainer (5) as a unit over the front drive shaft in the loader frame. The combined weight of bearing cage (3) and bearing retainer (5) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

Install bolts (2) and the washers that hold bearing cage (3) and the bearing retainer to the loader frame.
Connect grease tube (1) to bearing cage (3) .
Remove the lifting sling from front drive shaft (4) .End By: Install the parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
