Assembly Procedure
Verify that all of the components are clean and free of foreign material prior to assembly. Inspect all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear. Replace the O-ring seals and the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install stem (17) and spring (18) into diverter valve (1). Install O-ring seal (16) to plug (15). Install plug (15) to diverter valve (1) .

Install seal (14) to head (9). Install lip seal (13) to head (9) .

Install seal (11) and (12) to piston (10) .
Install head (9) and piston (10) to air cylinder (7). Install retaining ring (8) to air cylinder (7) .

Position air cylinder (7) and the O-ring seal (not shown) to diverter valve (1), as shown. Install two bolts (4) and the washers that hold air cylinder (7) to diverter valve (1) .
Install elbow (5) to diverter valve (1). Install O-ring seal (6) to diverter valve (1) .

Install O-ring seal (3) to adapter (2). Position adapter (2) to diverter valve (1) .End By: Install the torque converter and front brake cooling diverter valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Diverter Valve (Torque Converter and Front Brake Cooling) - Install".
