Component Code: 1408, 7332, 1901, 1920SUBJECT: USE OF THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN SWITCH OR LOW ENGINE SPEEDS CAN CAUSE LOSS OF SPEED SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC CODES
PROBLEM: Multiple occurrences of the MID: 36, CID: 320, FMI: 02 Speed/Timing Sensor Loss of Signal can be logged if the engine shutdown switch is used to stop the engine. The engine shutdown switch is located on the side of the left rear bumper. The engine shutdown control does not shut off the electrical system of the machine. If the engine drops below a minimum speed, the fault will be logged. A stalled (stopped) engine may also generate the same code.
SOLUTION: Loss of speed sensor codes logged when the engine shutdown switch is used to stop the engine do not indicate a problem with the speed sensor. Clear these codes with ET or with a 4C-8195 Control Service Tool.
