Install assembled solenoid valve and bracket to support on the left-hand side of machine. Use two 8T-4195 Bolts (18) and two 8T-4121 Hard Washers (15) to attach valve to support. Torque bolts to 55 N m (40 lb ft).

Remove left side battery cover. Locate the air compressor (23) for the Variable Pitch Fan (VPF).
Remove elbow adapter from inlet side of air compressor. Install 377-9563 Elbow Adapter (19) and 4J-5477 O-Ring Seal (20) to the inlet port of the air compressor and connect the inlet hose assembly.
Open radiator service access door on the left side of the machine.
Remove hoses (24) and bulkhead fittings (25) .

At the compressor outlet port (26), remove the solenoid valve (27), harness (28), and adapter (29) .

At the compressor outlet port (26), install 386-6202 Elbow Adapter (6) .
Cut 5P-6442 Hose (11) to a length of 56 cm (22 inch).
Install one end of hose at elbow located on compressor outlet port (26). Secure hose with 1P-4278 Hose Clamp (2).
Route unattached end of hose through grommet (30) and attach at port 1 (E) of solenoid valve. Secure hose with 1P-4278 Hose Clamp (2) .

Install 5P-8440 Grommet (12) in baffle for the radiator.
Install 91 cm (36 inch) of 5P-6442 Hose from fan tube (31) to elbow connector on the air control valve at port number 2 (F) .Note: Install the hose to fan tube (31) first. Place hose over tube by a length of 35 mm (1.5 inch). Ensure that the hose is fitted on the fan air tube without creating a tension on the fan tube. Attach the hose to the valve prior to tightening the clamp on the fan air tube.
Secure both ends of hose with 1P-4278 Hose Clamps (2) .
Secure hose with one 7K-1181 Cable Strap (14) to radiator support .

Install 322-0931 Bracket As (3) to lower radiator baffle (32). Use 8T-4137 Bolt (17), 8T-4133 Nut (16) and 8T-4121 Hard Washer (15) to install bracket.
Install 4D-9517 Clip (9) over hose and attach to bracket (3) using 8T-4137 Bolt (17) and 8T-4121 Hard Washer (15) .

If necessary, the lower radiator baffle may need removed, altered, and reinstalled for securing the air line (33) .

Route wire harness (34) from the chassis through the frame rail for the engine and connect to the replacement valve harness.
Test VPF system for proper operation.
