The moderate service track shoes installed on the above tractors were heat tempered at a lower than normal temperature. As a result, the shoes are harder and the service life may be reduced.Small pieces of the shoe plate may break on some shoes. On others, small cracks may initiate on the top surface of the grouser. In most cases, this is not a problem because the track shoe normally wears faster than the cracks can spread. However, in certain underfoot conditions, the cracks may spread faster than the surface of the grouser can wear. The final result may be cracked or broken track shoe.Solution:
Moderate service track shoes in the Parts Department are now tempered at a higher temperature and are tougher. For tractors in the above PIN range, the complete set of track shoes should be replaced if four or more shoes break.
