Cat Regeneration System (CRS) Aftertreatment Operation
The Cat Regeneration System is the process of converting the waste products of the diesel engine into carbon dioxide and water. The process uses high temperatures in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in order to facilitate the chemical reaction.Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration" for an overview of the CRS operation. This article explains how the system works in all Cat machines. The default regeneration mode at start-up is set for automatic regeneration. In the automatic mode the regeneration system on the engine will trigger regeneration when regeneration is appropriate. The operator may override the automatic regeneration cycle if needed.
Force Regeneration (47) - Push and hold the top of the switch for 2 seconds in order to start a manual regeneration cycle. In order to stop the manual regeneration cycle, push the top of the switch at any time during the cycle.
Disable Regeneration (47) - Push and hold the bottom of the switch for 2 seconds in order to disable the automatic regeneration cycle. There may be times that the operator determines that a regeneration cycle is not appropriate. Use the auto regeneration disable switch in order to disable the automatic mode. For more information about the CRS and the messages that are displayed, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Monitoring System".For a detailed description of the operation of the CRS, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration".Power Receptacle (49)
Power Receptacle - The 12V power receptacle can be used for powering automotive electrical equipment or accessories.Note: Do not use the power receptacle as a lighter for a cigarette.Auxiliary Audio Input (50)
This input jack will accommodate the use of a compatible auxiliary audio device.Electronic Technician Service Port (51)
Electronic Technician (ET) - This service port allows service personnel to connect a laptop computer to the machine electronics using Cat Electronic Technician. This connection will allow service personnel to interrogate the machine systems and engine systems. VIMS (52)
Vital Information Management System (VIMS) Service Port - This service port allows service personnel to interface with VIMS. Rear Service Center

This switch functions by shutting off the fuel supply to the engine.
Fuel System OFF - Raise the switch guard and move the toggle switch upward to the OFF position.
Fuel System ON - Move the toggle switch downward in order to activate the fuel system. The toggle switch is also moved downward automatically when the switch guard is lowered. Note: The engine will not shut off immediately. The fuel in the engine and the lines must first be exhausted before the engine will stop.Stairway Access Light Switch (55)
