Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery.First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable.A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Disconnect the batteries.

Place an index mark on all of the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor and the solenoid.
Disconnect the harness assemblies from electric starting motor (1) .
Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (1). The weight of electric starting motor (1) is approximately 29 kg (65 lb).
Remove bolts (3) .
Remove electric starting motor (1) and gasket (2) from the flywheel housing.Installation Procedure

Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (1). The weight of electric starting motor (1) is approximately 29 kg (65 lb).
Position gasket (2) and electric starting motor (1) on the flywheel housing. Install bolts (3) .
Connect the harness assemblies on electric starting motor (1). Tighten the nuts. Refer to Specifications, "Electric Starting Motor" for the torque values.
Connect the batteries.
