Introduction
This Technical Service Bulletin provides the necessary information needed to identify the potentially defective Counterbalance Valves in the tow cylinder manifold on certain Asphalt Pavers.Problem
Certain Asphalt Pavers have a potentially defective 308-2443 Valve Kit in the 292-9094 Counterbalance Valve Gp located at the Tow Point Cylinder Manifold. Symptoms of the defective unit include hydraulic oil weeping from the adjustment stem and/or a reduced pressure setting that could cause less responsive Tow Point Cylinder movement.Identification

Defective valves can be identified by the Date Code stamped on the side of the valve hex. A Date Code example of "E3191" is shown in Illustration 1. "E" indicates the supplier Source Facility. "319" is the Date of Manufacture, which indicates the day of the year the valve was built. For example, a valve with "319" was built 15November 2011. "1" is the last digit of the Year of Manufacture so "1" indicates 2011. The Date Code Range on the potentially defective 308-2443 Valve Kit is "E2241" thru "E3061" .Solution
Replace any defective valves with date codes E2241 thru E3061 with new valves from Service Parts.The following table shows serial numbers for the models that need inspection.
