Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the crankshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove".
Remove the pistons and connecting rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Wear eye protection in order to prevent possible personal injury while performing the following steps.
Note: Before you proceed with the removal of the cylinder liner, check the cylinder liners for the following items: wear, damage and rusting. Note: If the liner is found in good condition and the liner wear is less than the repair limit, then perform the following tasks: replace the piston rings, and ream the "ridge" at the top of the liner. Hone the bore, if necessary.

Use the following procedure in order to remove the cylinder liners from the engine cylinder block.
Set up a boring machine on the cylinder block. Align the boring machine with the center of the bottom of the cylinder liner with the less worn area.
Bore the liner until the thickness of the liner is 0.50 mm (0.020 inch).

Break the cylinder liner in order to remove the remainder of the cylinder liner. Be careful not to damage the cylinder block.
