Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to relieve the pressure.
Mixing ELC with other products will reduce the effectiveness of the coolant.This could result in damage to cooling system components.If Caterpillar products are not available and commercial products must be used, make sure they have passed the Caterpillar EC-1 specification for pre-mixed or concentrate coolants and Caterpillar Extender.
Flushing the Extended Life Coolant From the Cooling System
The machine is shipped from the factory with extended life coolant. Extended Life Coolant is recommended when you are changing the coolant.For information about the addition of Extender to your cooling system, see the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant Extender - Add" or consult your Caterpillar dealer.See the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Maintenance Interval Schedule" in order to determine the service interval. If a Extended Life Coolant was previously used, flush the cooling system with clean water. No other cleaning agents are required.Flushing a Standard Coolant From the Cooling System
If you change the coolant of a machine to Extended Life Coolant from another type of coolant, use a Caterpillar cleaning agent to flush the cooling system. After you drain the cooling system, thoroughly flush the cooling system with clean water. All of the cleaning agent must be removed from the cooling system.
