(1) Replacement 258-9101 Bearing The salvage procedure for the 140-4158 Support or the 230-6009 Support is adaptable to all machines. Use the appropriate procedure for the machine that is being serviced.Salvage Procedure For the 140-4158 Support
The 140-4158 Support was used on 4AZ1-5391 machines. The 140-4158 Support has a 40 mm (1.575 inch) hole for the boom pivot pin. There are no bearings in the Support.

View of the Support with no bearingsThe 140-4158 Support can be salvaged by installing 233-8452 Bearings in the place of the original holes. If the holes for the boom foot are worn, the holes can be bored in order to allow the 233-8452 Bearings to be installed. Bore the holes to the dimensions that are found in Illustration 3.

Bore the holes to the specified dimensions. Install the 233-8452 Bearing in the support. The bearings can be replaced if wear occurs.Salvage Procedure For the 230-6009 Support
The 230-6009 Support was used on 4AZ5392-UP and GBB1-UP machines. The 48 mm (1.89 inch) hole requires the 233-8452 Bearing for the boom pivot pin.

View of the Support with bearingsThe hole in the 230-6009 Support can be made larger if the 233-8452 Bearing will not fit properly in the hole due to damage or improper wear. A new bearing will need to be fabricated in order to match the new bore. Refer to Illustration 5.

Bore the hole to the specified dimension. The hole must be cleaned to a minimum of 75% in order to allow the new bearings to be installed. Install the fabricated bearings in the support. The bearings can be replaced if wear occurs.Refer to Illustration 6 for bearing dimensions.

Use a steel that meets 1E0368 specifications. The specification includes BS EN 970 080A47 or equivalent material. This steel does not require heat treatment. The minimum tensile strength of the steel is 860 MPa (124,750 psi) with a hardness of RKW C20-30.Note: A second salvage procedure can be performed on the 140-4158 Support. Refer to the "Procedure to Salvage the 230-6009 Support " for a second fix of the 140-4158 Support. Note: The maximum size of the hole for all of the supports is 50 mm (1.9685 inch). Do not bore the holes more than 50 mm (1.9685 inch).
