C 1 250-6597 Cylinder Wash Tank Gp Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Inspect all gaskets and seals. If any gaskets or seals are worn or damaged, use new gaskets or seals for replacement. All disassembly and all assembly procedures must be performed on a clean work surface and in a clean hydraulic area. keep cleaned parts covered and protected at all times.

Perform all necessary repairs to the hydraulic cylinder before assembly. Refer to Guideline for Reusable Parts and Salvage Operations, SEBF8072, "Inspection and Salvage of Hydraulic Cylinder Components" for information on reusability and salvage procedures.
Use Tooling (C) to thoroughly wash the inside of cylinder assembly (3). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS0632, "Procedure for Using the 120-9143 Cylinder Wash Tank Gp" for the correct cleaning procedures.
Place cylinder assembly (3) in Tooling (A). Cylinder assembly (3) weighs approximately 125 kg (275 lb).
Install seal (6) and retaining ring (5) on rod assembly (4).
Use Tooling (A) to slide rod assembly (4) into cylinder assembly (3). Rod assembly (4) weighs approximately 95 kg (209 lb).Note: Make sure that the grooves for the seals in head (2) are thoroughly clean prior to assembly.
Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount Compound to the counterbore for the wiper seal prior to assembly. Use Tool (B) to install seal (8) in head (2).
Install three bolts (7) and the washers in head (2).
Install O-ring seal (9), O-ring seal (11), and wear ring (10) in head (2). Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic oil to the contact surfaces of the seals.
Slide head (2) over rod assembly (4). Slide head (2) up to cylinder assembly (3).
Install 12 bolts (1) and the washers that secure head (2) to cylinder assembly (3). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 270 40 N m (199 30 lb ft).
