This test will show the following conditions if the conditions exist:
The torque converter inlet relief valve is closed.
The torque converter inlet relief valve is correctly set.Procedure
Inlet pressure to the torque converter must not be over 955 95 kPa (139 14 psi) with cold oil. Higher pressures will damage the torque converter. Adjustment of the inlet relief valve must only be done during a bench test.

Transmission hydraulic control (1) Location to install a 9S-8093 Block Plate Assembly (2) Pressure tap for the torque converter inlet pressure
Install a 9S-8093 Block Plate Assembly in location (1), between the face of the hose coupling and the manifold on the side of the transmission.
Use a coupler and a hose to connect a 8T-0849 Pressure Gauge to the nipple at pressure tap (2) .
Be certain that the transmission oil is at the correct operating temperature of 82° to 139°C (180° to 250°F) .
With the parking brake engaged, start and run the engine at high idle rpm with the transmission in NEUTRAL. The pressure on the gauge must not be greater than 955 95 kPa (139 14 psi).
When this test is complete, stop the engine and remove the test equipment.Problem: The pressure of the transmission charging pump section is correct and the torque converter inlet pressure is too low.
Probable Cause:

Transmission hydraulic control (3) Torque converter inlet relief valve
Torque converter inlet relief valve (3) is open.
There is too much leakage in the transmission hydraulic control.
There are bad seals in a clutch of the transmission. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Clutch Pressure - Test".
The torque converter outlet relief valve is not correctly set. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Torque Converter Outlet) Pressure - Test and Adjust".Problem: The torque converter inlet pressure is too high.

Torque converter inlet relief valve (4) is set too high. Perform a bench test on torque converter inlet relief valve (4) in order to determine if the relief valve is correctly adjusted. Remove some of 5M-9622 Shim (5) in order to get the correct relief pressure.
