Removal of the Rear Seal
Start By:
Remove the flywheel.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts and washers (1) that attach the adapter and seal assembly (2) to the front housing.
Remove the bolts and washers (3) that help to retain the wear sleeve onto crankshaft adapter (4) .
Install three 3/8-16 NC forcing screws in the adapter and seal assembly (2). Tighten the forcing screws evenly and remove the adapter and seal assembly (2) from the rear housing.Removal of the Rear Wear Sleeve

Note: Two methods can be used to remove the wear sleeve. The wear sleeve can be removed from the crankshaft adapter while the adapter is attached to the crankshaft or after the adapter is removed. After the adapter and seal assembly has been removed, use one of bolts (1) to fasten Tool (A) to one of the holes for bolts (1) .
Insert Tool (B) between Tool (A) and the wear sleeve that is on crankshaft adapter (2). Use a wrench to turn Tool (B) in order to crimp the wear sleeve.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 several times around the outer diameter of crankshaft adapter (2) until the wear sleeve is loose. Then remove the wear sleeve.Removal of the Crankshaft Adapter and the Rear Wear Sleeve

Install Tool (A) into the crankshaft through two holes (1) in crankshaft adapter (2) .
Remove bolts (3) that attach crankshaft adapter (2) to the crankshaft.
Slide crankshaft adapter (2) away from the crankshaft. Attach a suitable lifting device to crankshaft adapter (2) and remove the adapter from Tool (A). The crankshaft adapter weighs approximately 77 kg (170 lb).

Wear sleeve on the crankshaft adapter
Insert a sleeve distorter or a similar tool such as a screwdriver between the wear sleeve and the crankshaft adapter. Turn the tool in order to crimp the wear sleeve. Repeat this procedure several times around the outer diameter of the crankshaft adapter until the wear sleeve is loose. Then remove the wear sleeve.
