In certain operating environments, the alternator can fail prematurely due to debris inside the alternator.Solution
A fresh air filtering system can be installed in order to improve the service life of the alternator. Selection of parts and the mounting location for the filter will depend on the application.Routing of the hoses and positioning of the clamps should occur in a manner that will avoid contact points with other hoses and harnesses. The new filter should be mounted in an area that is free of any splash and near a source of intake air.Table 1 below lists the parts that can be used to install the new filter for the alternator.

(5) Use an appropriate length of 5P-1471 Hose , as required. (6) The 246-2925 Plate As can be used in place of tube (10). (7) Approximately 100 mm (4.0 inch) of 5P-1259 Hose (8) 8X-4575 Breather As (9) Use 200-6345 Mounts , as required. (10) 226-4911 Tube (11) One 9D-6196 Clip and one 9D-6197 Clip (12) 144-6302 Bracket (13) Two 5P-0597 Hose Clamps (14) Two 8T-8912 Bolts , four 8T-5360 Washers , and two 6V-5729 Locknuts
