Start the engine, and run the engine at idle for 5 minutes.Note: The lubrication pump for the rear axle will not operate when the engine is off, the oil temperature is below −4° C (25° F), and the machine is not moving for 5 minutes.

Open the sight gauge cover.
Check the oil level for the differential and final drives.

Maintain the oil level within the middle range on the sight gauge. If the rear axle lubrication pump is on and the oil is at operating temperature, maintain the oil level within the upper half of the middle range on the sight gauge. If the rear axle lubrication pump is off and the oil is at ambient temperature, maintain the oil level within the lower half of the middle range on the sight gauge.
If the oil level is high, drain the oil.
If the oil level is low, add oil.

Remove the bolts, and store the bolts for reuse.
Remove the cover plate, and store the cover for reuse.

Clean the plate and seal in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seal for the plate.
If the seal is good, install the seal.
If the seal is defective, discard and replace the seal.

Add oil through the opening.Note: Allow sufficient time for the oil to fill all the compartments before rechecking the oil level.

Clean the area around the opening.
Install the cover plate.
Install the bolts, and tighten the bolts to the proper torque.Note:
