1. Attach a suitable lifting device onto fork (1). The weight of fork (1) is approximately 272 kg (600 lb). Position fork (1) onto the frame.
Fork Positioning Cylinder Installation Procedure -

Position cylinder (5) onto the machine. Rod end will mate with a fork, and the head end mates with the carriage. Install pin (6) and clip (7) into the carriage. If original clip is damaged, replace with new (Parts List B).

2. Install pin (4) and clip (3) onto the fork. If original clip is damaged, replace with new (Parts List B).

3. Connect hose assemblies (1). If the seals are damaged, even a slight amount, it is recommended to replace them (Parts List C).
4. Install hose brackets (2).
Install Cross Pin

1. Using a suitable lifting device align the cross pin to slide into place. Use the pry bar, hammer and pin driver (Tooling B, C and D) to assist installation.

2. Install bolts (1) and retainer plates (2) on both sides using a 18mm wrench/socket.
Backrest Install

3. Attach a suitable lifting device to the backrest (4). Support the weight of the backrest, which is approximately 180 lbs.

4. Loosely insert the two lower bolts (3). Then drop in 234-1794 shims, as required, to fill the clearance between new carriage assembly and backstop. Repeat for the other side.
Fork Roller Attachment Install (If equipped)

5. Attach a suitable lift device to one of the side rollers (1). Support the weight of the side roller (1), approximately 218 lbs.
6. Align the side roller and install the two bolts (2) from the inside of the carriage. This will require a 18mm wrench/socket.
Clean-up and Inspection

6. Wipe off excess oil.
7. Start machine. Remove the stand or wood block from under the frame.
8. Any air trapped in the cylinders needs to be worked out. To do this, cycle all of the implements. Lift the forks and tilt the carriage back and forth several times, slowly at first. Then move the forks back and forth being careful not to fully extend the cylinders. After 5 cycles of each implement move the cylinders through the full range of motion, holding at full extension/ retraction for 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times. During this procedure stop immediately if any leaks are noticed. Tighten the hose where the leak was noticed, and begin again.
9. Check hydraulic oil level. Add new, clean oil if level is low.
