Cleaning Guidelines
Stop the machine on level ground, away from where the mat is being laid. If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the wheel securely.Proper cleaning of the machine, especially the slats and chain, after completion of operation is very important to trouble-free paving the next time.Diesel fuel on the conveyor chain will serve as lubrication.Clean the machine in a manner so that the excess fuel from the cleaning can be contained and disposed of properly.One method used to contain the excess fuel from the cleaning is to position the machine on a layer of sand. After the cleaning is complete, reclaim and use the sand in the next bath of asphalt to be mixed. Keep the spray away from the tires, hydraulic hoses, electrical connections, electrical wires, etc.Clean any part of the machine that comes in contact with asphalt mix. * Conveyor chain. Be sure to clean the entire length of conveyor chain.* Conveyor slats.* Footshaft and auger.* Chain sprockets.
Lubricate fittings daily, at the end of operations, while the machine is still warm and the asphalt is still soft or not set up. Failure to do so may allow asphalt to harden around the seals and risk damaging a seal and lead to premature bearing failure.
