Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.If there are two notches on the bracket, there is no rework that is required. The valve cover or the bracket will need to be reworked if the existing bracket has one notch (2). ""Procedure 1"" is the rework of the bracket. ""Procedure 2"" is the rework of the valve cover. Either procedure can be used.Procedure 1

Remove the valve cover. Remove the five nuts (1) that are installed on the bracket for the harness.

Grind (D) an additional 10 mm (0.39 inch) to the existing notch.Add an additional notch on the steel bracket. Depth of notch (A) ... 6 mm (0.24 inch) Width of notch (B) ... 6.5 mm (0.26 inch) Distance from the edge of bracket (C) ... 13.5 mm (0.53 inch)

Install 9L-9132 Washer (3) under the five brackets for the harness. Install the bracket and the harness assembly. Install the nuts that were removed in Step 1. Torque the nuts to 30 N m (22 lb ft).Procedure 2

Remove the valve cover. Remove the five nuts (4) that are installed on the bracket for the harness.

The material (5) on the center ribs on the plastic valve cover can be removed.

Install 9L-9132 Washer (6) under the five brackets for the harness. Install the bracket and the harness assembly. Install the nuts that were removed in Step 1. Torque the nuts to 30 N m (22 lb ft).
