This Illustrates measuring liner height projection.Use 7S9470 Piston Ring Expander to remove and install rings (3) on piston.Use 7S9417 Piston Ring Compressor to install pistons (4) in cylinder liners.Clean orifice (5) thoroughly. Clean orifice by passing a .090 in. (2,28 mm) drill rod through opening.Install thrust plates (6) with the words "Block Side" next to the block.Use an 8B7548 Push Puller, 8H684 Ratchet Box Wrench and 8B7551 Pulling Attachment to remove crankshaft gear (7). Refer to the GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. At installation, heat gear (7) to 600° F. (315° C.) maximum. Align letter "C" on crankshaft gear (7) with letter "C" on Camshaft gear.Use 5B1161 Wire to measure clearance of main bearing (8).Lubricate the threads of the connecting rod bolts with SAE 30 engine oil. Tighten both nuts (9) initially to 30 3 lb. ft. (4,1 0,4 mkg). Mark end of bolt and nut. Tighten each nut an additional 90° 5° (from mark) after initialy tightening.Lubricate threads and head seat face of main bearing bolt (10) with SAE 30 engine oil. Tighten both bolts (10) initially to 30 3 lb. ft. (4,1 0,4 mkg). Mark head of bolt and bearing cap with matching marks. Tighten each bolt an additional 90° 5° from match mark after initial tightening.
