7. Put plate (5), spring (6) and retainer (7) in place in the flywheel housing. Install three bolts (9) loosely to hold the assembly in position. 8. Put tooling (A) in position in gear (8) and the flywheel housing. Tooling (A) will put the discs and plate in a center position.9. Install the bolts that hold the assembly in place. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 42 5 lb.ft. (56 7 N m). Remove the gear and tooling (A). 10. Install gear (8) on the shaft. Install the plate and the two bolts that hold the gear on the shaft. 11. Install a 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolt in the top of housing (10). Fasten a hoist to the eyebolt in the housing.12. Lift the housing into position and slide it onto the studs. Slowly turn the engine to make an alignment of gear (8) and the friction discs. Install the nuts and bolts that hold the housing in position. 13. Slide drive shaft (11) in and make an alignment of the external splines on the drive shaft with the internal splines of the shaft in housing (10). 14. Put tooling (B) in position in the bore of housing (1) to check alignment of the engine with the drive shaft. Make a rotation of tooling (B) in bore around the drive shaft until resistance is felt in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions.15. Find the center of free movement (travel) of tooling (B). This center is the direction the engine needs to be moved to make an alignment of the engine and drive shaft.16. Inspect front and rear engine supports for damage. Make a replacement if necessary. Also, shims can be used to make an alignment of the engine and the drive shaft.17. Pull the drive shaft at least two feet out the rear of the transmission. 18. Put lube line (12) in position and install the bolts that hold it in place.19. Connect line (13) to the flywheel housing. 20. Put the O-ring seals in position in tube (14). Install screen (15). Install tube (14) and the bolts that hold the tube and screen in position. 21. Put the O-ring seal in position in elbow (16). Put the elbow in position on the flywheel housing oil pump. Install the bolts. 22. Install O-ring seal (19) on the tube assembly.23. Put tube assembly (17), hose (18) and the two hose clamps in position in the housing. 24. Slide hose (18) into position on the tube and cover (21). Put hose clamps (20) in position and tighten. 25. Connect oil line (22) to the elbow.26. Install the drive shaft. See Step 13. 27. Install spiral lockring (23) in the groove. 28. Install O-ring seal (25) in cover (24). Put cover (24) in position and install the bolts.29. Check the oil level in the transmission.
