Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Open the access door behind the cab.

Disconnect electrical connector (2) from transmission housing (1) .

Disconnect two hose assemblies (3) from manifold (4) .

Remove 18 bolts (5) from cover (6) .
Remove cover (6) from the transmission.

Remove three bolts (7) and the washers from manifold (4) .
Remove manifold (4) .

Remove two O-ring seals (8) from each manifold (4) .

Remove bolt (9) and the washer.
Remove two sleeves (10) from transmission hydraulic control valve (11) .

Remove two O-ring seals (12) from each sleeve (10) .

Remove four bolts (13) and the washers from transmission hydraulic control valve (11) .

Remove nut (14) on electrical connector (15) .

Slide transmission hydraulic control valve (11) to the side in order to remove electrical connector (15) from transmission housing (1) .

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable hoist, as shown.
Use the hoist in order to remove transmission hydraulic control valve (11) from the transmission. The weight of transmission hydraulic control valve (11) is 55 kg (120 lb).
