Catalytic converter
(1) Temperature sensor for the outlet of the catalytic converter
(2) Oxygen sensor for the outlet of the catalytic converter
(3) Temperature sensor for the inlet of the catalytic converter
Start the engine. Before continuing, allow the engine to warm to normal operating temperature.
Use the test ports to test the temperature on the inlet side of the catalytic converter
Use the test ports to test the temperature on the outlet side of the catalytic converterNote: If the test is being performed for the first time, skip step 4.
Compare the temperature readings to the same readings from the first time the test was performed.Recording the temperature readings in a maintenance log may be helpful.If the temperature differential across the converter is more than 14° C (25° F) higher than the initial temperature differential measurement, inspect as described in this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Catalytic Converter Substrate - Inspect/Clean".
