Information:
Note: If the engine is equipped with duplex fuel filters, the fuel filter elements can be changed while the engine is in operation. Refer to "Replacing the Fuel Filter Elements During Engine Operation".
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Replace the primary fuel filter elements whenever the following conditions occur:
The pressure gauge for the fuel filter registers 69 kPa (10 psi) of a pressure differential.
The fuel filters have been used for 1000 service hours.Replacing the Fuel Filter Elements with the Engine Stopped
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.

(1) Drain plug
(2) Water sensor
(3) Canister bolts
Use a suitable container to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel immediately.
Do not fill the fuel filters with fuel before installing the fuel filters. The fuel will not be filtered and could be contaminated. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system parts.
Remove plug (1) from the bottom of the ball valve and drain fuel into a suitable container.
Disconnect water sensors (2).
Loosen three bolts (3) on top of each canister .
Rotate each canister ring until the bolts disengage from the filter base.
Lower canister and filter as one unit.
Remove filter element from the canister and discard.
Remove the old o-ring. Install a new o-ring on the underside of the filter base.
Place a new filter element inside each canister.
Lift canisters and filters as one unit until contact is made to the filter base.
Rotate the canister ring until the bolts engage into the slots in the filter base.
Orient canister until the water sensor is lined up with the water sensor mounting plug. Install water sensors.
Tighten the canister bolts evenly to 45 N m (33 lb ft).

(4) Filter purge tubes
(5) Outlet purge port
(6) Inlet purge port
Attach a suitable hose to the filter purge tube (4). Route the hose to a suitable container.
Open outlet purge port by loosening the outlet purge port nut (5).
When fuel is present in the filter purge tube, tighten the purge port nut.
Repeat for inlet purge port.Replacing the Fuel Filter Elements During Engine Operation
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
An external fuel supply is required to supply fuel to the filters during the bleeding operation. The external fuel supply prevents air ingestion which is detrimental to the health of fuel system components.
This filter contains pressurized fuel that can cause a fire hazard, which may result in bodily injury or death. Follow the instructions given in this Operation and Maintenance Manual and stop the engine if rapid air movement exists to blow the fuel.
