Brake Release Group
The brakes must be released when hydrostatic loaders are towed. Former loaders had an onboard hand pump which released the machine brakes. New loaders need an external (outside) power source. You can fabricate a portable pump group that is hand powered. The FT1845 Brake Release Group has a 7H1680 Volume Compressor (Pump) (1) with a gauge, hoses, valves, and fittings. These components are necessary to control the oil pressure and connect the pump to the brake circuit.See the chart for parts and illustration for location of the parts to fabricate this pump group. Follow this procedure to make the pump group:1. Remove the original hose and fittings from the pump.2. Use the instructions printed on the side of the pump reservoir to adjust the pump handle linkage to 17 000 kPa (2500 psi) position (maximum volume per stroke).3. Add the hose and fittings to the pump cover.4. Fill the reservoir with SAE 10W oil.5. Before you use the pump group to release the loader brakes, adjust 8T477 Relief Valve (7) on the pump group:a. Close manual valve (3) and plug the end of the hose with a 5P2909 Plug (18). Install a 26453 Elbow (1/2" - 14 NPT street elbow) in the relief valve port on the side of 8T477 Relief Valve (7). This street elbow is not part of the FT1845 Brake Release Group. Make sure the elbow is directed toward the pump reservoir. Remove the cover of the pump to allow oil flow from the relief valve port to fall into the pump reservoir while the relief valve is set.b. Adjust relief valve (7) so it starts to drip oil at approximately 1380 kPa (200 psi) while slowly pumping.c. The pressure reading at gauge (9) will increase as you pump faster to increase the rate of oil flow through the relief valve. While you operate the pump handle at the rate of one stroke per second, adjust relief valve (7) again, if necessary, so the maximum pressure reading is between 1900 kPa (275 psi) and 2075 kPa (300 psi) with all the pumped oil flowing through the relief valve. This will protect the tractor brakes from excessive pressure surges.d. After adjusting relief valve (7), open manual valve (3) to return the pressure to zero. Remove 5P2909 Plug (18) from the hose. Install the cover on the pump reservoir. 6. You must connect the service pump hose to 8M505 Fitting (20) at the inboard side of 3W305 Manifold (21). The manifold is at the rear of the left ROPS support.a. Disconnect the hose which comes from the transmission and plug it with 5P2909 Plug (18).b. Connect the service pump hose to 8M505 Fitting (20). This is the fitting from which the hose was removed.7. Block the machine to prevent movement.
When the brakes are released, the machine is free to move, which could cause personal injury or property damage. Block the machine to prevent movement until it is ready to tow.
