Introduction
This procedure should be performed if machine operates like it has a brake applied or will only operate in certain gears. Step 1. Check pressure.a. Start and run the engine at high idle and disengage the parking brake. Shift the transmission into neutral to check clutches 1,2,4 and 5. Shift the transmission into FIRST gear FORWARD to check clutch 3.b. Measure the pressure for the clutch that will not release.
Figure 1: ECPC Clutch Solenoid Valve Identification Expected Result: All clutch pressures are less than 20 psi when released. Results:* OK - The clutch is releasing properly. STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 2. Step 2. Check transmission modulating valve bolt torques.a. Check the torque of the bolts holding the transmission modulating valves to the transmission control valve. Expected Result: The torque for the bolts should be 30 4 NM (22 3 lb ft). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 3.* NOT OK - Tighten or loosen the bolts to the proper torque. Check operation of machine for original complaint. If conditions are not resolved, proceed to Step 3. Step 3. Inspect transmission modulating valve.a. Disassemble and inspect the transmission modulating valve for the clutch that is not releasing.b. Repair or replace as required.c. Check the operation of the machine for the original complaint.See Figure 1: ECPC Clutch Solenoid Valve Identification Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 4. Step 4. Replace valve.a. Replace suspect valveb. Check operation of machine for original complaint. Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - Calibrate the transmission control valve using the procedure in SENR8367, "Power Train Electronic Control System". Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "Submode 31 to 35 and 40 - ECPC Clutch Calibrations" for additional information.* NOT OK - The cause of the problem is uncertain, please call technical support with the information gathered so far. STOP.
