Information:
The CMS is an electronic monitoring system designed to display various system parameters. The Vacuum Fluorescent display technology provides excellent visibility at various light conditions.Seven different engine/transmission parameters may be displayed on electronic gauges. The six left side gauges are arranged in two rows of three. The larger center gauge is the tachometer. There are twelve warning lamps available. They are located on the right side in four rows of three.Beneath the tachometer is a three digit display and beneath that a four digit display. The three digit display indicates which of the six left side gauges is being read. The four digit display is used for a tachometer but can also be used to display the six left side gauge readings. The illuminated arrows above the tachometer are used as synchronization indicators.Connecting the CMS Display
1. Connect (+) Battery through ignition switch to PIN 1 of 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector). The preferred way of connection is to connect both PORT and STBD CMS displays through the same ignition switch.2. Connect (-) Battery to PIN 2 of 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector).Connect Harness Code:
* Connect (-) Battery to PIN 26 of 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector).* Connect (-) Battery to PIN 28 of 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector).Connect Data Link to the CMS:
* Use twisted pair of 16 gage wires, approximately three twists per 25.4 mm (1 in), to connect PIN 23 and PIN 24 on the 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector) to the J4 (DT) connector on the engine harness. The length of the wires should NOT be more than 40 m (130 ft). User can use twisted shielded wire, approximately three twists per 25.4 mm (1 in), to connect Data Link + and Data Link -, but connect only ONE end of the shield to (-) Battery.3. Connect (-) Battery through a normally open momentary contact switch to PIN 5 of the 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector). This will enable the user to change brightness of the display every time the switch is closed. The user can use one dimming switch for both PORT and STBD engines, but both PORT and STBD displays for a station must be powered up through the same ignition switch. This method is the preferred way of connecting the dimmer switch. If the CMS display is being powered up through different ignition switches, then the user MUST use two dimmer switches, one for the PORT CMS and one for the STBD CMS.4. Connect (-) Battery through a normally open momentary switch to PIN 8 of the 8T9834 Plug Assembly (CMS 40 Pin Connector). This will enable the user to scroll through different engine/transmission parameters every time the switch is closed. Separate scroll switches should be used for the PORT and STBD engines. The user can use one scroll switch for both PORT and STBD engines, but both PORT and STBD CMS displays for a station must be powered up through the same ignition switch. The preferred
