Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the diesel exhaust fluid module
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Illustration 1 g06272981Note: Do not attempt to pry or pull the tabs out of the connections on hose assemblies (4) as damage will occur. Push down on the fitting and push the tabs inward before pulling up to disconnect hose assemblies (4).
Disconnect harness assemblies (5). Remove bolts (1) and (3). Remove hose assemblies (4).

Loosen clamps (6) and (8). Remove hoses (7) and (9).

Remove cable straps (11). Disconnect harness assembly (10) and reposition out of the way.

Remove bolts (12) and cap (13).

Remove O-ring seals (15) and (14) from cap (13).

Remove bolts (17) and manifold assembly (16).

Remove cable straps (19). Disconnect harness assemblies (18), (21), and (20).

Remove bolts (23) and bracket assembly (22).

Remove bolts (24) and diesel exhaust fluid pump (25).
Illustration 10 g06272998Note: Place identification marks on DEF pump coolant connectors (26) and DEF pump connectors (28) for installation purposes. DEF pump coolant connectors (26) and DEF pump connectors (28) are not interchangeable.
Remove coupler (27). Remove DEF pump coolant connectors (26) and DEF pump connectors (28).Installation Procedure
Install the diesel exhaust fluid pump in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (24) to a torque of 19 2 N m (168 18 lb in).
Tighten bolts (17) with maximum wrench speed of 60 rpm.Note: Use of impact tool is prohibited.
Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 6 1 N m (53 9 lb in).
Tighten clamp (6) to a torque of 6.8 to 6.5 N m (60.2 to 57.5 lb in).Note: Orient such that hose clamps (6) and (8) does not contact other components.
Tighten bolts (3) and (1) to a torque of 6 1 N m (53 9 lb in) with maximum wrench speed of 60 rpm.Note: Use of impact tool is prohibited.
