Illustration 1 shows a left-hand door handle latch (2) in normal operation from the inside of the door. When the door handle (1) is moved up, the tab (circled) pushes down on the L shaped mechanism to unlatch the door. Note in the circled area tab (3) is above L shaped mechanism.

Complaints have been received that the left-hand door handle latch (2) seizes on the above listed machines. The seized door handle latch causes the operator to get locked inside the cab. The door latch seizes or jams when the inside door handle lever (1) is pushed past the desired travel distance to unlatch the door. Note tab (3) is now under the L shaped mechanism which seizes or jams the door latch not allowing the door to open. Refer to Illustration 2.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and is recommending the following Interim Repair.
Remove the door handle.

Place handle on work bench as shown, note flat piece (4) next to tab (3) on the back side of the handle. Refer to Illustration 3.

Use pliers (5) to bend flat piece (4) up and in line with tab (3) on the door handle bracket.

Illustration 5 shows the handle, after the flat piece is bent up and now in line with tab.
Install the modified door handle.

Modify flat piece (4) by bending the piece upward in line with tab (3). The modification prevents the L shaped mechanism from jamming or seizing the latch when handle (1) is moved too far to open the door.
