Information:

Use the differential lock only in conditions where wheel spin has, or will be encountered. If wheel spin has already developed, release pressure from the accelerator pedal. Allow engine speed to fall sufficiently to stop wheel spin before engaging the differential lock. Failure to follow this procedure can result in machine damage.Keep steering maneuvers to a minimum when the differential lock is engaged. Steering maneuvers with the differential lock engaged can result in machine damage.
Incorrect use of the interaxle differential and the cross axle differential locks will cause machine damage. Use the locks only in ground conditions that are very soft. Disengage the locks as soon as ground conditions allow. A switch to the right of the instrument cluster is used to disengage the XAD Lock when conditions allow (see figure 4).

Normal Operation
Operating the interaxle lock or the cross axle differential locks is not necessary during normal operation when ground conditions are suitable for good traction.Interaxle Differential Lock
Illustration 5 g03400110
The interaxle differential lock can be engaged while the machine is in motion. The interaxle differential lock can be disengaged while the machine is in motion. However, do not engage the interaxle differential lock during wheel spin.Depress the floor switch (2) to engage the interaxle differential lock. The indicator light (3) for the differential lock is activated. The front drive shaft and the rear drive shafts are now locked together. The front drive shaft and the rear drive shaft rotate at the same speed. Single wheels may still spin.Release the floor switch (2) to disengage the interaxle differential lock. The machine is now in normal operation.Cross Axle Differential Lock
The cross axle differential lock can be engaged while the machine is in motion. The cross axle differential lock can be disengaged while the machine is in motion. However, do not engage the cross axle differential lock during wheel spin.To engage the cross axle differential lock depress and hold the floor switch (2), then depress the dash switch (1). The cross axle differential locks will be engaged. The interaxle differential locks will also be engaged. The indicator light (3) for the differential lock is activated.Release the floor switch (2) to disengage the cross axle differential locks. The machine is now in normal operation. When the axles are locked and the wheels are locked, the axles and the wheels rotate at the same speed.Note: During normal operation, keep the switch for the cross axle differential lock OFF to prevent inadvertent engagement of the IAD locks when the floor switch (2) is depressed.Note: When both the interaxle differential lock and the cross axle differential locks are engaged, the Transmission/Chassis ECM will disengage the cross axle differential locks when the speed of the machine is above 16 km/h (10 mph). The cross axle differential locks will engage again when the ground speed is decreased as long as the floor switch (2) is depressed.Interaxle Differential Troubleshooting
Note: The troubleshooting information is intended to aid in diagnosing a given problem. The possible causes are ordered from the most probable
