The engines with certain air compressors must have a naturally aspirated supply of inlet air. The air compressors that are listed below are currently supplied with compressed air from the engine turbocharger. Refer to Table 1 for the models of air compressors and part numbers that are affected by this change.A naturally aspirated supply of inlet air means installing a line from the inlet of the air compressor to the outlet of the engine air filter. Install the line between the clean side of the air filter and the turbocharger inlet. Install the line as close to the air filter as possible, as far from the turbocharger as possible.Use a line that is less than 1.8 m (6 ft) long with a minimum inside diameter of 25 mm (1 inch). A flexible line is preferred in order to prevent engine vibration from causing loosening of the fittings. The line must be able to withstand exposure to the following items: engine oil, diesel fuel, environmental factors and other engine related conditions.
