PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Remove the existing parking brake from the machine. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove and Install", "Removal Procedure", for additional information.
2. Install a new 563-2590 Parking Brake Group on the machine. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove and Install", "Installation Procedure", for additional information.
3. Fill the parking brake oil reservoir. Refer to the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual, for the correct oil fill quantity and oil type.
IMPORTANT: Application of the correct fill volume of oil to parking brake oil reservoir is critical to proper parking brake operation and service life.
4. Apply 174 mL of Caterpillar grease to the grease barrier on the floating yoke end (front end) of the parking brake. Refer to the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual, for the correct grease type.
IMPORTANT: Application of the correct initial fill volume of grease in the parking brake grease barriers is critical to proper parking brake operation and service life.
5. Apply 92 mL of grease to the grease barrier on the fixed yoke end (rear end) of the parking brake. Refer to the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual, for the correct grease type.
IMPORTANT: Application of the correct initial fill volume of grease in the parking brake grease barriers is critical to proper parking brake operation and service life.
6. Check the parking brake for correct operation. Refer to the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual, for the parking brake check procedure.
