Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the power train pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR3033, "554 Forwarder and 574 Forwarder", "Piston Pump (Power Train) - Remove".
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all tubes, and on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all tubes, and all hoses. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect two hoses (1) and tube (3) from pump (2).

Disconnect hose (4) from the valve on the bottom of the pump.
Remove three bolts (7) that hold brackets (5) and (6) to the pump.

Attach a hoist and suitable lifting slings to pump (2). The weight of the pump is 107 kg (235 lb).
Remove nine remaining bolts (7). Remove pump (2) from the machine.
